Foursprung: Bio tires made of corn

corn tires

A good alliance for our environment seems to be the cooperation between the tire manufacturer Goodyear and the Italian eco-bio-chemical firm Novamont.
The result of their collaboration are bio-tires made of corn. Using their non-GMO corn starch called Mater Bi Novamont produced an additive, or biofiller, which replaces part of the lampblack and silica normally contained in the tire mixture.

Not only producing these bio-tires needs less energy. The tires provide reduced rolling resistance, noise and emissions and increasing fuel efficiency.

Ford and BMW already approved them to be used on their new cars.
