Radio: Mercedes-Benz will come standard equipped with Sirius radio

Mercedes-Benz has announced that Sirius satellite radio will now come standard in a number of 2007 vehicles, including the SL-Class, CL-Class, AMG-tuned models and anything with a “600” in the designation.
Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. (SIRI.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and DaimlerChrysler AG's (DCXGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) Mercedes-Benz USA unit on Thursday said the luxury auto maker will start offering the satellite radio service as standard equipment.
Beginning with 2007-year models, which will be introduced next year, Sirius will for the first time be included as standard equipment on some Mercedes cars, including all SL-Class, CL-Class, AMG and 600 model vehicles.
The two companies also said Thursday that they extended through September 2012 an exclusive marketing and distribution arrangement that gives Sirius an edge over rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XMSR.O: Quote, Profile, Research) with Mercedes buyers.
