Satellite Radio: Visteon Delivers Electronics Innovations for Nissan
Please read about a big deal for Visteon delivering gadgets for Nissan on PRNewsWire:
"The satellite radio system, now offered by Nissan and Infiniti, gives
customers a choice in satellite service providers. The system -- designed by
Visteon -- is a first for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
application, allowing the driver to choose between XM or SIRIUS satellite
radio service. Given two subscription options, consumers can identify their
preference of satellite radio service provider at the point of purchase. The
Visteon system can be found on the Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Maxima,
Pathfinder, Quest, Titan and Xterra; and the Infiniti G35, M45 and QX56
vehicles in North America. Additional vehicles to offer satellite radio by
2006 include the 350Z, Murano, Sentra, FX45 and Q45.
"Visteon's consumer research shows that consumers want to personalize
their vehicles and have a choice of satellite radio service," said Albert
Faraj, director of Visteon's Nissan customer business group. "They also want
the freedom to choose their own cell phone provider."
Also available on various Nissan and Infiniti models is Visteon's MACH
Voice Link system, a Bluetooth(R) wireless interface that enables
communication between portable electronic devices -- such as mobile phones --
and the vehicle. The Visteon system creates an in-vehicle environment that
delivers hands-free, voice-activated access to cell phones, allowing drivers
to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Consumers can use the
cell phone service provider of their choice, given their phone is enabled with
Bluetooth capability. The hands-free Bluetooth solution is available on the
Maxima, G35 and QX56 in North America. In 2006, it also will be offered on
the FX45 and Q45."
