Satellite radio: New Sirius satellite radio system for vehicle and home application

The system by Audiovox includes a receiver/car kit combo, a second car kit and a home unit.

Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX) today unveiled their Sirius Satellite Radio system about which Tom Malone Senior VP, Sales said, "We have been successful with Sirius Systems from their inception, and the expansion of these new models, reflects how positive we feel about the trend toward satellite radio and what it can mean to our distribution base."

With the eminent arrival of shock-jock Howard Stern to the Sirius network in 2006, there has been a marked increase in subscriptions for Sirius service. "Satellite radio sales for Audiovox have been very strong this year and we believe that these new Sirius products should keep that momentum going," said Malone. "Our new receiver/car kit combo has features that enhance the satellite radio experience, like a large 5-line display and "Game Alert" which prompts you when your favorite NFL or other sports teams are being broadcast on Sirius."

The main Audiovox Sirius system features a Plug 'n Play Receiver and Car Kit (SIRCMB5) with an MSRP of $99.99, an optional second vehicle kit (SIRCK5) for $39.99 and an optional Home Kit (SIRHK5) for $39.99. All models utilize brackets instead of docks, a feature that, Malone feels, will appeal to dealers and their customers. "The brackets have a sleek, low profile, making them cosmetically appealing wherever they are installed," he said.
