Mercedes-Benz: Featuring Google and Yahoo Maps from 5th September

Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz has announced that you can send Yahoo Maps to their cars from 5th September. It will also be possible to Google in your car. The feature set is called Search&Send.
The new Search & Send feature will let you send directions from either maps service to the car’s navigation system with its new “Send to Car” icon. Pressing the i-button on the car’s Tele Aid system will download the directions and make them available to you. What’s rather unique about this feature is the fact that both Google and Yahoo are being offered to consumers.

VW: Working on adaptive sunshade

adaptive sunshade
VW is working in their labs on an adaptive sunshade for their cars.
Crystals in the upper part of the front window react to direct sunlight and turn dark. To calculate the position of the sunshade, a smart electronic is considering the position of the sun and the eye position of the driver. If you drive along curvy roads, the adaptive sunshade is "moving" based on the recalculated position.

A serial production is still undecided, but it would open up completely new design possibilities for car interiors.
